This is the last Will and Testament of me Francis Starbuck of
Harby in the County of Leicester - Victualler ~ I appoint my wife
Susannah Starbuck and Henry Slater of Hyson Green in the
Borough of Nottingham Licensed Victualler Executors and
Trustees of this my Will
I give devise and bequeath to my said Trustees their heirs
executors administrators and assigns all my real and personal
estate Upon trust to permit my said Wife to receive the rents and
income thereof during her life for her separate use and from and
after her decease I devise and bequeath all my said real and
personal estate unto William Slator son of the said Henry Slater
absolutely and I revoke all Wills or Testamentary writings
heretofore made by me ~
In Witnesss whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament
set my hand this 19 day of February One thousand eight hundred
and eighty five

I John Starbuck of Alford in the County of Lincoln Photographic
Artist declare this to be my last Will and Testament I release
my son John Bissell Starbuck from the payment of so much of
the sum of One hundred pounds and interest secured by an
assignment of his interest under the Will of Samuel Coleman as
shall be owing at my death I bequeath to my Daughter Clara
Starbuck all the stock pictures fittings goodwill book debts and
other things belonging to or used in my business subject to the
payment of the trade debts thereof I devise all my real estate
to Samuel Muston Butcher and Robert Kemp Chemist both of
Alford aforesaid Upon trust that they or the survivor of them or
the heirs of such survivor their or his assigns hereinafter
designated my Trustees to sell the same and divide the net
proceeds after discharging the expenses of the sale thereof
and the Mortgage debt thereon equally between my Daughters
Clara Starbuck, Susannah Starbuck and Emma the wife of
Charles Shepherd Smyth for their sole and separate use
respectively Provided always that my Wife shall have the
option of occupying at the rent of eight pounds a year the
dwellinghouse in which I reside at the date hereof for so long
as she shall choose and that as long as she shall so occupy the
said dwellinghouse the sale of the said house and the adjacent
dwellinghouse and premises shall be postponed and I direct the
said Trustees to receive the said rent of Eight pounds the first
payment whereof shall become due at the expiration of one
year from my death and to let the adjacent dwellinghouse and
premises from year to year and divide the said rents after
paying for the Insurance thereof against loss by fire the
interest on the Mortgage and other expenses equally between
my said Daughters I bequeath my consumable household
stores and provisions to my said wife I bequeath my household
furniture books and all articles of household ornament and use
and all the residue of my personal estate unto and equally to
be divided by my Executors between my four Daughters
Susannah, Mary Jane the wife of Edwin Nainby, Emma the
wife of Charles Shepherd Smyth and Clara after payment
thereout of my debts other than Mortage or trade debts
funeral and testamentary expenses I appoint the said Samuel
Muston and Robert Kemp Executors hereof I revoke all other
Wills

In Witness whereof I the said John Starbuck the Testator have
hereunto set my hand this seventh day of March One thousand
eight hundred and seventy eight.

This is a first Codicil to my Will I declare that the division of my
household furniture books and all articles of household use and
ornament shall be postponed until the period fixed for the sale
of my dwellinghouse and that my Wife shall have the option
during such period of using the aforesaid articles without
making any payment for such use I apppoint Isaac Nutsby of
Alford aforesaid Woollen Draper and Executor and Trustee of
my said Will in the place of Samuel Muston and I direct that my
said Will shall be read as if the name "Isaac Nutsby" were
substituted for that of "Samuel Muston" throughout

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this eighth
day of February One thousand and eight hundred and seventy

Proved at Lincoln with a Codicil the fourth day of June 1883 by
the oaths of Robert Kemp the Executor named in the Will and
Isaac Nutsey the Executor named in the said Codicil to whom
Administration was granted

The Testator John Starbuck was late of Alford in the County of
Lincoln Photographic Artist and died on the seventh day of
January 1883 at Alford aforesaid

Gross personal Estate £212. 15s. 6d.



This is the last Will and Testament of me Joseph Starbuck of Sutton
Saint Edmunds in the county of Lincoln farmer First I give and
bequeath unto my dear wife Maria Starbuck all and singular my
household goods and furniture plate linen and china to and for her own
use and benefit And also the legacy or sum of Twenty Pounds to be
paid to her by my Executors hereinafter named within one calendar
month after my decease And as to all the rest residue and remainder
of my monies securities for money live and dead stock implements in
husbandry goods chattels and personal estate and effects
whatsoever and wheresoever at the time of my decease I give and
bequeath the same unto my Friends John Castle of Sutton Saint
Edmunds aforesaid farmer and Willliam Strickling of Leverington
Parson Drove in the _ _ _ _ of Ely in the county of Cambridge farmer
their executors and administrators Upon Trust that they my said
Trustees or the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of
such survivor do and shall with all convenient speed after my decease
call in and compel payment of all such part of my personal estate as
shall consist of money due and owing to me upon securities or
otherwise And do and shall sell dispose of and convert into money
such part or parts thereof and shall not consist of money or securities
for money And do and shall out of the monies to arise from such
collection and sale and aforesaid in the first place pay satisfy and
discharge all my just debts whether owing upon bond or simple
contract at the time of my decease and the costs and upon bond or
simple contract at the time of my decease and the costs and
expences attending such collection and sale And also my funeral and
testamentary expences And then do and shall pay off and discharge
all monies which may be due on mortgage of all or any part of my real
estates or so much thereof as the same will extend to pay And the
residue and overplus (if any) of the said monies do as aforesaid to
arise and be produced after such respective payments shall have
been made thereout shall and do pay apply and dispose of in such
and the same manner and for such and the same intents and
purposes as are hereinafter mentioned expressed and declared of and
converning the monies to arise from sale of my real estates Also I
give and devise unto the said John Castle and William Strickling All
and every my messuages lands tenements and hereditaments
whatsoever and wheresoever situate lying and - - - - with the
appurtenances thereto respectively belonging and of what tenure
soever the same may be and whether the copyhold parts thereof
have been surrendered or not to the use of my Will To hold the same
unto the said John Castle and William Strickling and their heirs Upon
Trust that they the said John Castle and William Strickling or the
survivor of them or the heirs of such survivor do and shall demise and
let my said real estates devised to them as aforesaid in such manner
as they shall think most expedient until my younger now born or
hereafter to be born or until my youngest surviving child shall attain
the age of twenty one years and do and shall during the minority of
such youngest or youngest surviving child pay the clear rents and
profits of the said real estates after deducting all necessary outgoings
unto my said wife Maria Starbuck for the maintenance and support of
herself and of my said children And in case of the decease of my said
wife in the mean time then the said rents and profits shall be applied
by my said trustees and trustee at their or his discretion for the sole
benefit of my said children And when and as soon as my said
youngest or youngest surviving child shall have attained the age of
twenty one years then Upon Trust that the said John Castle and
William Strickling or the survivor of them or the heirs of such survivor
shall and do as soon as conveniently may be thereafter absolutely sell
and dispose of the same real estates and every part thereof either
together or in parcels by public auction or private contract to such
person or persons for such price or prices and in such manner and
form as they or he shall think proper and expedient And for better
enabling them to so do I declare that the receipt and receipts of the
said John Castle and William Strickling or the survivor of them or the
heirs of such survivor shall be a good and sufficient discharge or
discharges to this purchaser or purchasers of my said several real
estates devised to them as aforesaid or of any part thereof for his her
or their respective purchase money or purchase monies or for so
much thereof as in such receipt or receipts shall be -------------- to be
received without such purchaser or purchasers being obliged to see to
the application or being answerable or accountable for the
misapplication or nonapplication of the said purchase monies or any
part thereof And upon further Trust that they my said trustees or
the survivor of them or the heirs executors or administrators of such
survivor shall and do by and out of the monies to arise from the sale
of my said real estates pay off and discharge all mortgage debts if
any which shall be then due or charged upon any part of the asame
estates and which the residue of my said personal estate shall have
proved insufficient to pay and the costs and expences attending such
sale and sales and the residue of the said monies shall and do pay
divide and distribute unto between and amongst my said wife Maria
Starbuck and all and every my child and children who shall be then
living in equal shares and proportions to and for her his and their own
use and benefit Provided always and I do hereby declare that if any of
my children shall depart this life before the said estate shall become
saleable leaving issue of his her or their body or bodies then this child
or children of such of them as shall so die leaving issue shall take the
same share or shares as his her or their parent or parents would have
taken had the she or they been still living and in equal proportions if
more than one at his her or their respective ages of twenty one years
And in the meantime the interest and produce thereof shall be applied
by my said trustees and trustee to and for the maintenance and
education of such respective children Provided also and I do hereby
declare that in case the prinicpal money due to the present or any
future mortgagee or mortgages of my said freehold estates or any
part thereof shall remain unpaid and unsatisfied out of the residue of
my said personal estate and shall be called in or demanded previous
to the sale of the said real estates or in case my said trustees or
trustee shall think it expedient to discharge the same it shall and may
be lawful for them and him to concur in and execute any assignment
or assignments of the present or any future mortgage or mortgages
and all proper and necessary deeds and instruments for transferring
the same or otherwise to devise all or any part of my said freehold
estates for any term or number of years to any person or persons
who may be willing to advance money on security thereof
nevertheless so that the whole principal money to be charged thereon
shall in no case exceed the then existing charges and the necessary
expences of any such assignments transfers deeds or other
securitiies And I do declare that in all cases my said trustees and
trustee may lawfully pay out of the rents and profits of my said
estates or out of the monies to be raised by them as aforesaid all
costs charges and expences which may be occasioned by this trust or
by any such assignment or assignments transfer deeds or securities
And that the receipt and receipts of my said trustees and trustee shall
in all cases be a sufficient discharge and discharges to all and every
person and persons accepting the same Provided always and I do
hereby declare my will and mind to be that it shall and may be lawful
to and for my said trustees and the survivor of them and the heirs
executors and administrators of such survivor from time to time and
at all times by and out of the monies which shall come to their or his
hands by virtue of this mywill to deduct and reimburse themselves
and himself all such loss costs charges damages and expences as
they any or either of them shall respectively sustain expend or be put
to for or by reason of the trusts hereby in them and him reposed or in
the management or execution thereof onr in any matter or thing in
anywise relating thereto and that my said trustees or either of them
their or either of their heirs executors or administrators shall not be
charged or chargeable with or accountable for any more of the said
trust money than they shall respectively actually receive buy virtue of
this my will nor with or for any loss that shall happen to the said trust
money or any part thereof so as such loss shall happen without their
or his wilful neglect or default nor the one of them for the other of
them or for the acts deeds receipts and payments of the other of
them but each of them for himself and his own heirs executors and
administrators acts deeds receipts and payments only And lastley I
do nominate constitute and appoint the said John Castle and William
Strickling joint executors for this my last will and testament hereby
revoking all former wills by me made In Witness whereof I the said
Joseph Starbuck have to this my last will and testament contained in
four sheets of paper set my hand and seal (that is to say) to each of
the first three sheets I have set my hand and to this fourth and last
sheet my hand and seal this twenty third day of December in the year
of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty six.

This is a Codicil to the last Will and Testament of me Joseph Starbuck
of Sutton Edmunds in the county of Lincoln farmer which I duly made
and published bearing date the twenty third day of December One
thousand and eight hundred and twenty six Whereas I the said
Joseph Starbuck being minded and desirious to make an addition to
and increase the number of Trustees and Executors in my said Will
named do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my Brother Mark
Starbuck of Sutton Saint Edmunds aforesaid farmer to be an Executor
and trustee of my said Will in addition to and jointly with John Castle
and William Strickling the other Executors and Trustees in my said Will
named and appointed And for that purpose I do hereby give devise
appoint and bequeath unto the said Mark Starbuck,John Castle and
William Strickling their heirs executors and administrators
respectively all and singular the real and personal estate in any by my
said will given devised appointed and bequeathed unto the said John
Castle and William Strickling their heirs executors administrators and
assigns And I do further declare that such real and personal estates
shall be held by the said Mark Starbuck John Castle and William
Strickling their heirs executors and administrators respectively upon
the same trusts and to and for the same ends intents and purposes
and with under and subject to the same powers provisoes conditions
and agreements as are expressed and declared of and concerning he
same in and by my said will It being my intentions that the said Mark
Starbuck John Castle and William Strickling jointly shall in all respects
take the same estate and interest in my real and personal property
both as trustees and executors as the said John Castle and William
Strickling would have taken under and by virtue of my said will had
not this codicil been made and in all other respects I do hereby
constitute and confirm my said will

which I declare to be a codicil to my said last will and testament and
which is to be attached and taken as part thereof set my hand and
seal this eighth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and twenty seven

On the sixh day of November 1827 the within named Executors Mark
Starbuck, John Castle and William Strickling were well and duly sworn
at the same time made oath that the whole of the personal estate of
affects of the deceased at the time of his death did not amount to the
sum of Two hundred and 10 pounds

The Testator died on the 16th day of May 1827.

Item All the residue of my personal Estate which it hath pleased God to Bless me
with I Give to my Beloved wife Ann Starbuck She paying all my Just Debts my
funeral Expenses and the Legacies above Named, and Lastly I Do Nominate
Constitute and Appoint my Beloved wife Ann Starbuck Sole Executricks of this my
Last will and Testament Revoking all other former wills by me of any kind here
before made. In Wittness hereof I have Sett my Hand and Seal this 29 Day of
November 1740

First I bequeath my soule into the hands of God my Creator and to
Jesus Christ my only savior and redeemer by whose merritts and
mercy I trust to enjoy eternall happiness and my body to be buried at
the discression of my executors hereafter mentioned and as for such
Temporal Gooods as the Lord hath lent me I give devise bequeath as
followeth -

Item I give unto my wife Anne the house I now live in during her
naturall life with all the profits that shall arise out of my said house and
homestead and after her Decease I give unto my eldest sonne Robert
Starbucke the said house with the appurtenances and to his heirs for
ever

Item I give unto my other three sonnnes Thomas Starbucke Jeremiah
Starbuck and Daniel Starbuck thirty pounds apeece to be paid out of
my house to them within twelve months next after the decease of my
wife Anne

Item I give unto my daughter Jane Starbucke ten pound when she
shall acomplish the age of eighteen yeares to be paid to her by my
executor hereinafter mentioned

Itemm I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jane Starbucke Twenty
pounds more to be paid out of my house by my sonne Robert Starbuck
within twelve monnths next after my wifes decease

Item my will is that in case my wife Anne shall depart this life before
my children be brought up that then all the profitts that shall arise out
of my said house shall be for the maintenance and bringing up of my
children untill such time as the youngest of them shall accomplish the
age of fourteen years old

Item my will is that if it please god my wife be with Child at the houre
of my death lawfully begotten of my bodeie that then I give unto it the
sume of ten pounds to be payed to it by my Executor hereafter
mentioned as soon it shall accomplish the age of one and twenty years
if it be then living

Item I give unto my foure sonns Robert Thomas Jeremiah and Daniel
five pounds a peece to put them out to an aprentizes when they shall
come to the age of fourteene yeere, to be paid them by my executor
hereafter mentioned

Item I give unto my Mother Starbucke five shillings to be paid her
within three months after my decease

Item my will is that in case any of the said children shall die before the
time limited that then my will is that the said portions so given shall be
equally devided amongst the next that are living

All the rest of my goods Cattell and Chattells not given and bequeathed
my debts legacies funerall expenses being fully satisfied and discharged
I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Anne whom I doe make
executrix of this my last will and testament and I desire my brother
Thomas Wright of Foxton and my nephew Thomas Wright of Harborrow
to be keeper of this my last will and testament

sick and weak of body but of good sound and disposeing mind and
memory the Lord calling to mind the mortality of allmankind and that
the tyme of death is incergtaine and onely knowne to God Do ordaine
and make this my last will and testament in maner and forme following
that is to say -

First and principally I bequeath my soule into the hands of allmighty God
my Creator and of Jesus Christ my savior and redeemer by whose
merrits through Gods mercy I trust to enjoy eternall happines and I
comitt my body to the earth from whence it came to be decently
interred by my Executors and herein after named

And as concerning such temporall estate as the Lord in mercy hath lent
me I give Devise and bequeath as herein after followeth -

First I give and bequeath unto my sonne Willm the sume of Ten pounds
to be payd to him at his age of one and Twenty years

Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elezebeth Ten pounds to be
to her payd at her age one and Twenty years and All the rest of my
goods Cattle and Chattells hereby not given nor bequeathed any Debts
legacies and funerall expenses being fully payed and Discharged I give
and bequeath unto Anne my wife whom I make sole executrix of this
my last will and testament
